Days here
Everything below actually happens on this farm or within a short drive of it. Most of it costs nothing; the two things that do are priced plainly. Follow the river — it runs from first light to the fire.
The gate at the end of the farm
Part I · 6:00 am
Mist on the water, birds before anyone else is up, and a road of paddy to walk through.

A gate at the end of the farm opens onto the bank. From there the walkways run along the water for as long as you want them to.

Three hundred acres of paddy farmed collectively, right across the road. Walking through it and meeting the villages that work it is the most honest thing you can do in Wayanad.

Birdsong is the alarm clock here. Tholpetty and Muthanga sanctuaries are close, and both run into the Rajiv Gandhi Tiger Reserve.
Part II · 11:00 am
Spice trees, village roads on two wheels, and a pool the canopy keeps cool.

Coffee, pepper, nutmeg, areca, coconut and a long list of other spices grow here. Ask, and someone will walk you through it and show you what each one looks like on the tree.

Bikes are on the property for the village roads. The river does the rest. Take a line down to the bank. See what happens.

Shaded by trees for most of the day, open all year. Private at Attics and the Villa, shared between the A-frames.
Part III · 6:30 pm
The chill arrives, the fire is lit, and dinner comes out of the kitchen.

Home-cooked breakfast is included with every stay and is, by a wide margin, the thing guests write about most. Lunch and dinner are cooked to order.

Grill, charcoal and skewers set up for you. Bring your own, or we'll arrange the food at cost.

A chill settles over the farm in the evening. The firepit is the reason nobody goes inside.
And back to the table
At the table
Breakfast is included and cooked in the house. Lunch and dinner are made to order, subject to the cook's day — or you can eat in town, about five kilometres away.
